CASL-MPO team members served as guest editors for vol 63, issue 8 of JOM (Journal of TMS, the Minerals, Metal and Materials Society) dedicated to Advanced Fuel Performance: Modeling and Simulation. The authors of these articles represent the formation of an industry, university and national lab team under CASL.
In addition to Perspective and Commentary articles, there are three papers that describe the current stateof-the-art for CASL challenge problems (CRUD, GTRF and PCI), as well as discussion of potential CASL advances. Other papers describe lower length scale activities that will provide improved materials physics and chemistry models to the engineering scale models for each of the challenge problems. Although the entire breadth of MPO activities is not present in these papers, the combination accurately describe the MPO approach to addressing challenge problems.
